Chery Malaysia today launched the Tiggo Cross.
Available as a hybrid CSH (or Chery Super Hybrid) at RM99,800 and the 1.5 Turbo petrol variant at RM88,800, both versions are locally assembled under Chery’s complete-knock-down (CKD) programme.
Orders for the Tiggo Cross are open at all 58 Chery dealerships nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak. Deliveries will start in August.
The Tiggo Cross Hybrid CSH combines a 96 PS, 120 Nm 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 204 PS and 310 Nm of torque. It achieves a combined fuel consumption of 5.4 l/100km and is fitted with a 51-litre fuel tank.
The petrol-only model employs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine – shared with the Omoda 5. The powerplant is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, producing 147 PS and 210Nm and returning 6.3 l/100 km.
Measuring 4,318mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,670mm in height, the Tiggo Cross is similar in size to the Proton X50 and Honda HR-V. It features a wheelbase of 2,610mm, with the hybrid riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the petrol variant gets 18-inchers.
Chery Malaysia vice-president Michael Chew said the Tiggo Cross combines modern design, practical space, advanced features and a confident stance.
The exterior is distinguished by a large diamond-patterned grille, LED headlamps with daytime running lights and integrated turn indicators, and full-LED taillights. Side mirrors include integrated turn signals, and chrome trim accents the window surrounds and lower bumper areas.
The cabin centres on a 20.5-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A separate climate-control touchscreen panel offers dual-zone settings.
Wireless charging, multiple USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity and steering-wheel audio controls are standard. Voice-assistant functionality allows hands-free operation of navigation, audio and climate functions.
Seating is upholstered in synthetic leather, with height adjustment for the driver and lumbar support. Rear passengers benefit from a 60:40 split-folding bench and air vents. Boot capacity stands at 440 L, expandable to 1,340 L with rear seats folded.
Safety equipment includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
A 360° camera system with active parking assist and front and rear parking sensors is fitted to both variants. Six airbags and ISOFIX child-seat anchors are standard.
The Tiggo Cross supports five hybrid drive modes in the CSH variant: EV (electric-only), Tandem (engine as generator), Parallel (engine and motor together), Direct-Engine (engine drive above 80 km/h) and Energy Recovery (regenerative braking).
The hybrid’s lithium-iron-phosphate battery supports fast charging and is located beneath the rear seats.
By offering Malaysia’s most affordable hybrid alongside a competitively priced turbocharged model, Chery seeks to strengthen its market share in the compact SUV segment.
At the launch event in Kuala Lumpur, Chery Malaysia presented RM50,000 to the National Sports Trust Fund under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The contribution supports athlete development and national-level tournaments.
Chery Malaysia began operations in July 2023 with a handful of outlets and has expanded to 58 today. Apart from the Tiggo Cross, the company offers four other models locally namely the Tiggo 8 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, Omoda 5 and Omoda E5, an electric SUV.
The Tiggo Cross is positioned below the Omoda 5. In China, the compact SUV is marketed as the Tiggo 5X Pro and sold in some parts of the world as Tiggo 4.
Internationally, the Tiggo Cross/Tiggo 4 has recorded one million exports as of March 2025 across over 20 markets.
