Continental has rolled out its EcoContact 6 and EcoContact 6Q tyres to the Malaysian market, responding to growing demand for fuel-efficient and eco-friendly options.
The German manufacturer says the new models reduce rolling resistance, lower CO2 emissions and extend electric-vehicle range, while maintaining grip and stability on wet and dry roads.
The EcoContact 6, featuring a high-tech silica compound and optimised asymmetric rib and sipe geometry, is engineered to reduce rolling resistance and, consequently, fuel consumption and CO2 output. Continental reports that its tailored tread pattern and compound deliver improved efficiency for petrol and hybrid vehicles, as well as additional kilometres per charge for electric cars.
Building on the EcoContact 6’s attributes, the EcoContact 6Q incorporates Advanced Green Chili 2.0 compound and a bespoke tread pattern to further cut rolling resistance and enhance fuel economy.
The 6Q also integrates noise-reduction technology: ContiSilent polyurethane foam inside the tyre reduces interior noise by up to 9 dB(A), promising a quieter cabin on a variety of road surfaces.
“Whether navigating city streets, cruising on highways or embarking on longer journeys, Malaysian drivers can expect comfort, efficiency and safety from our EcoContact 6 and 6Q,” said Continental Tyre Malaysia managing director Andrea Somorova.
Both models are factory-fitted by leading global carmakers, including BMW and Mercedes-Benz, on account of their ultra-low rolling resistance and extended range capabilities.
The EcoContact 6 prioritises durability alongside efficiency, while the 6Q focuses on driving comfort through additional noise reduction. Continental has released the new tyres in rim sizes from 15-inch to 21-inch, with original-equipment markings approved for top luxury marques.
Malaysian motorists can buy the EcoContact 6 and 6Q at authorised Continental dealers nationwide, as well as via official Continental storefronts on Shopee, TNG eWallet and Lazada.
