Caltex Malaysia has introduced Caltex Havoline Fully Synthetic Hybrid SAE 0W-20, its first engine oil expressly designed for hybrid powertrains.
The new formulation aims to maximise engine performance and ensure smooth operation in low-temperature environments typical of hybrid systems.
Caltex Malaysia country chairman Dean Gilbert said the lubricant was made in response to growing demand for hybrid-specific oils. He noted that lower operating temperatures in hybrid engines can lead to sludge formation, corrosion and accelerated wear, and that Caltex’s proprietary technology addresses these challenges.
The oil’s key features include enhanced water and fuel dilution resilience, which promotes consistent oil flow by forming strong emulsions in the presence of contaminants; superior rust and corrosion protection, achieved through a protective barrier that shields critical components; and advanced low-temperature sludge control, which minimises varnish and deposit buildup on engine surfaces.
Together, these properties are intended to deliver improved performance, extended engine life and cleaner operation.
Caltex Havoline Fully Synthetic Hybrid SAE 0W-20 builds on the success of the existing Havoline line. The product is available immediately at selected Caltex service stations and Caltex Havoline autoPro workshops nationwide.
