BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, today unveiled the Atto 2, an all-new electric compact SUV aimed at first-time drivers, trendsetters and go-getters.

Designed to deliver premium EV technology at accessible prices, the Atto 2 offers a dynamic driving experience alongside lifestyle-focused features that cater to urban living.

Sime Motors managing director Andrew Basham said the company is removing barriers to EV ownership through flexible payment plans and a partnership with Power Up, Malaysia’s first mobile EV-charging service, which delivers charging directly to customers’ doorsteps.

Sime Motors plans to expand its network to 60 BYD outlets by 2026 to strengthen the national EV ecosystem.

The Atto 2 is propelled by a 130kW electric motor producing 290Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100kph sprint in 7.9 seconds.

Its 51.13 kWh BYD Blade Battery provides an NEDC-rated range of up to 410km. Expect WLTP range to be 330km.

Charging options include an AC Type 2 inlet (7 kW) and a CCS2 DC port (up to 82 kW) for fast charging.

Front-wheel drive, a synthetic-leather interior, ventilated front seats, wireless charging and a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhance comfort and connectivity.

Safety is supported by six airbags, a 360° view monitor and advanced driver-assistance systems. The SUV’s load capacity reaches 1,320 litres with rear seats folded, riding on 17-inch alloys shod in 215/60 R17 tyres.

The Atto 2 is available in three exterior colours — Ski White, Breeze Green and Harbour Grey — all paired with an all-black interior.

Pricing starts at RM100,000, with the first 800 customers eligible for an Easy Ownership Package worth up to RM13,500.

Benefits include six months of RM0 instalments, free wall chargers for landed properties or mobile charging packages for high-rise residents, plus complimentary V2L adapters, three-pin Type 2 cables and extensive warranty coverage: six years/150,000 km on the vehicle, eight years/160,000km on the high-voltage battery and eight years/150,000km on the drive unit.
