Mazda has introduced the Mazda6e, its first mid-sized electric vehicle for the European market, at the Brussels Motor Show. This electric hatchback with a fastback saloon design builds on the legacy of the internal combustion engine-powered Mazda6, which was a staple in Europe from 2002 to 2023.
The Mazda6e will go on sale in left-hand drive European markets this year and is set to arrive in UK dealerships by the first half of 2026.
The Mazda6e is available with two battery options: a 68.8 kWh version offering up to 480km of range and a larger 80 kWh option with a range of up to 555km.
Both versions support 200kW DC charging, with the smaller battery charging from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes and the larger one in 45 minutes. The smaller battery produces 258ps, enabling 0-100kph acceleration in 7.6 seconds, while the larger battery delivers 244ps with a slightly slower 0-100kph time of 7.8 seconds.
Both configurations offer 320Nm of torque and rear-wheel drive.
Designed under the theme “Electrifying Design Crafted to Perfection,” the Mazda6e showcases the next evolution of Mazda’s Kodo design philosophy.
Its sleek, coupe-like silhouette, frameless doors, and integrated handles contribute to a modern and sporty appearance.
Distinctive lighting features include glowing signature wing lights around the grille, which animate to indicate charging status, and a horizontal taillight bar.
An electronically extendable rear spoiler enhances both aesthetics and stability at speed.
The cabin emphasises simplicity and spaciousness, inspired by the Japanese “Ma” design concept.
Premium materials vary by trim level, with Takumi models featuring artificial leather and Takumi Plus offering tan Nappa leather.
Technology includes a 14.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch instrument cluster, and an augmented reality head-up display. A panoramic roof enhances natural light, while practicality is ensured with a 330-litre boot and a 70-litre front storage area.
