GAC’s Aion division launched the new Aion V, a second-generation electric SUV, today. The vehicle is the first global model from Aion, designed for diverse international markets.
Manufactured in Thailand, the Aion V boasts a range of 750 km on the CLTC cycle and features advanced electric drive, control, and battery technologies.
It introduces Aion’s 400V+3C fast-charging technology, offering 370 km of range with a 15-minute charge, compatible with 99% of global charging infrastructures.
The Aion V’s design, inspired by the Tyrannosaurus Rex, combines a rugged exterior with a luxurious interior.
It features Aion’s AEP 3.0 platform, offering 4.42 m² of cabin space, a 2.775-metre wheelbase, and a nearly 1.3-metre interior height. The vehicle’s three-tier boot storage system provides versatile cargo organisation.
Inside, the Aion V integrates the ADiGO PILOT system, which includes a Gen4 AI algorithm and NVIDIA Orin-X chip, supporting advanced AI and “multi-sensor fusion” technologies. This setup allows navigation without high-precision maps.
The vehicle’s features are said to cater to a wide range of consumer preferences, quality standards, and road conditions, emphasising both luxury and practicality.
The Aion V was tested in 28 cities by 10,000 industry experts, media representatives, and users, receiving positive feedback.
The SUV is available in seven trims, priced between US$17,800 and US$26,000, significantly cheaper than its predecessor. Over 10,000 orders were recorded within two hours of its launch, according to Aion.
Aion said the vehicle is expected to become a leading choice in the mid-sized SUV market, appealing to a cross-cultural audience and offering industry-exclusive technologies.
