How about that! Malaysia can lay claim to having the largest Tesla Supercharging station in Southeast Asia.

Tesla today opened the charging station at Gamuda Cove, Selangor.

The station comprises six (DC) Superchargers and 18 (AC) destination chargers at the location.

At least five more stations are planned in various parts of Peninsula Malaysia for 2024. At the moment, all chargers are for use by Tesla customers only. However, Tesla is mandated by law to open up 30% of its chargers for use by other EV marques by 2025.

Users use the Tesla app to monitor the availability and status of Superchargers, as well as manage payments. The pay-per-use Supercharging fee, priced at RM 1.25/kWh, makes Tesla’s charging services one of the most cost-efficient options in the market.

At present, Tesla has set up seven Supercharging stations (with 36 chargers) and nine Destination Charging stations (with 55 chargers) across Malaysia, facilitating travel within the country and to neighbouring regions like Singapore.

For now, only the Model 3 and Model Y are on sale in Malaysia. Prices for the Model 3 start from RM 189,000 and Model Y from 199,000.

Prospective Tesla buyers can schedule test drives and place orders by contacting the Tesla Malaysia hotline at 1800810655.

The company operates showrooms (it calls them experience centres) and offers test-drives at various locations in Malaysia, including Cyberjaya, Pavilion Damansara Heights, and Sunway Big Box.

The Gamuda Cove township is developed by Gamuda Land, whose other big housing project Gamuda Gardens in northern Selangor is set to get DC fast chargers soon. So far, it hosts two BMW AC chargers, it will soon have two DC fast chargers able to charge four cars at a time. The Kempower chargers are from Gentari.
