GWM Malaysia is marking its third anniversary with a clear message to local buyers: it plans to be a long-term player in the national automotive scene, not a short-lived experiment.
Since entering Malaysia in 2022, the brand has expanded to more than 30 outlets nationwide, backed by improved aftersales coverage.
Its current range stretches from the refreshed Ora Good Cat and Ora 07 electric hatchbacks to the Haval H6 HEV, Tank 300 and flagship Tank 500 HEV, positioning GWM in the heart of the electrified and premium SUV segments.
The numbers give weight to that ambition. GWM reports sales growth of 2,532% in 2023, followed by 83% in 2024 and 313% year-to-date in 2025, driven in large part by the Haval H6 HEV. The hybrid SUV now ranks as Malaysia’s second-best-selling hybrid SUV and the top-selling Chinese hybrid SUV, signalling growing confidence in the brand’s technology and support.
The anniversary theme, “Go With More Moving Moments”, reflects a broader strategy built on CKD local assembly, a denser retail and service network and a pipeline of new energy vehicles spanning hybrid to full EV.
Upcoming models will feature the brand’s Hi4 intelligent hybrid system, tuned for Malaysian traffic and driving patterns, while the planned launch of the WEY G9 MPV is aimed at families seeking a more premium, electrified people-mover.
GWM Malaysia’s leadership said its focus is on long-term investment, localisation and customer care to reassure buyers comparing newer Chinese entrants against established Japanese, Korean and European rivals.
To celebrate the three-year milestone and pull in undecided shoppers, GWM is rolling out a “Book and Win” campaign with prizes worth up to RM150,000, alongside trade-in support, free maintenance and extended warranty offers on selected models including the Haval H6 HEV, Tank 300 and Tank 500.
