Renault has taken the wraps off the 4 Savane 4×4 Concept show car at the French Open, reviving its Savane nameplate first used in the 1950s.
This modern-day “gentlemen explorer” is based on the Renault 4 E-Tech electric and highlights the versatility of the AmpR Small platform.
The show car features a second electric motor on the rear axle, delivering permanent all-wheel drive and enabling confident performance on mud, snow and unpaved terrain.
Ground clearance is raised by 15 mm over the standard Renault 4 E-Tech electric, while front and rear tracks are widened by 10 mm on each side. It rides on bespoke Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ 225/55 R18 tyres fitted to distinctive “Savane” alloy wheels.
The Savane 4×4 Concept’s bodywork is finished in a new Jade Green hue, contrasted by gloss-black bumpers and wheel arches. Its roof is covered in a pixel-variation printed fabric that offers a camouflage effect, and both front and rear bumpers are equipped with 3D-printed, shock-absorbing inserts.
A pronounced “4Savane” logo adorns the flanks, while the tailgate carries a clear “4×4” designation.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Deep Brown refined-textile TEP fabric, with top-stitched horizontal seams extending across the dashboard and door panels.
Seats feature a tonal-hued, quilted “4” motif on the backrests, complemented by houndstooth inserts on the trim and lateral supports.
The dash strip is illuminated by a backlit 4Savane badge, reinforcing the concept’s identity.
Engineers at Renault said the Savane Concept not only elevates the adventurous spirit of the classic 4 Savane from the 1950s and 1980s but also boasts the marque’s capability to deliver chic, go-anywhere electric mobility.
