Polestar has introduced new software enhancements for the Polestar 3 through its latest over-the-air (OTA) update, adding walk-away locking and digital key functionality. These updates continue the Swedish brand’s commitment to improving its vehicles throughout their lifecycle.
Since first delivering the Polestar 3 in June 2024, the company has rolled out nine OTA updates for the flagship SUV and more than 30 updates across its range since the Polestar 2 launched in 2020.
The latest digital key feature allows selected smartphone users to lock, unlock, and start their vehicle without removing their phone from their pocket. The digital key can also be shared across platforms for added convenience.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said the company is focused on continuous vehicle improvement, noting that customer feedback played a role in implementing the digital key. He added that Polestar will continue refining its vehicles through OTA updates, which not only introduce new applications and features but also enhance driving characteristics and safety systems.
Looking ahead, Polestar will upgrade the Polestar 3 for the 2026 model year with a transition from its current NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Xavier processor to the more advanced NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin.
