Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Li Auto plans to enter Thailand before the end of 2026, marking its expansion into South-East Asia.
The company’s global public relations team has reportedly confirmed the move to international media, although an official launch date, vehicle lineup and pricing remain unannounced.
Corporate records show that Li Auto New Energy (Thailand) Limited was registered on June 29, 2026, with capital of 100 million baht (RM12.15 million). Its registered activities include vehicle sales and distribution.
Li Auto established itself with range-extender electric SUVs, which use petrol engines to generate electricity rather than drive the wheels directly. It has since expanded into battery-electric vehicles with models including the Mega luxury MPV and i6 SUV.
Both feature in the manufacturer’s right-hand-drive development plans, but neither has been confirmed for Thailand.
The seven-seat Mega has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 400kW, while the five-seat i6 offers rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.
Beyond China, Li Auto has expanded into Central Asia and is preparing to enter Europe.
A timetable for Thai customer deliveries has yet to be announced.
