Jaguar’s Type 01 electric GT is expected to cost more than £130,000 (RM703,000), with fresh details pointing to more than 1,000PS, 23-inch wheels and extensive new technology ahead of its full reveal.
The Times reported that the production car incorporates around 360 new patents and retains the long-bonnet proportions previewed by the Type 00 concept, despite being built on a dedicated EV platform.
The newspaper cited Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover ahead of the car’s New York debut.
Jaguar has separately confirmed that the Type 01 uses a tri-motor electric powertrain developing more than 1,000PS and over 1,300Nm.
It rides on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture, or JEA, developed specifically for the brand’s next generation of EVs.
The luxury four-door GT is designed, developed and built in Britain. Jaguar said JEA allowed engineers greater freedom over the car’s proportions, dynamics and cabin packaging rather than adapting an existing combustion-engine platform.
Its cabin has already been previewed, featuring four individual seating areas divided by a full-length central spine, a low driving position and a slim dashboard integrating the infotainment system.
The reported 23-inch production wheels, £130,000-plus price and 360-patent figure have yet to be detailed in Jaguar’s public technical material.
Jaguar will officially reveal the Type 01 in New York on Oct 6.
