Chery’s Lepas brand has launched the L8 plug-in hybrid SUV in Romania, marking its latest European expansion while opening its first Romanian showroom near Sibiu.
The Lepas L8 PHEV is priced from €45,500 (RM208,800). The first 100 buyers are offered a €3,000 discount, bringing the VAT-inclusive price to €42,500 (RM195,000), along with two free services and 0.99% financing.
Lepas said the L8 has a WLTP combined driving range of 1,040km. Claimed fuel consumption is 2.0 litres per 100km under the combined test cycle, rising to 6.0 litres per 100km when the traction battery is depleted.
The SUV has a 2,800mm wheelbase and uses the company’s Lepas Super Hybrid powertrain. European-market cars also receive chassis tuning intended for local road conditions.
Inside, the L8 offers heated and ventilated seats with massage functions, while Lepas said more than 60 noise-control measures are used around the cabin.
Driver-assistance equipment includes a 540-degree camera system, automated parking assistance and remote parking assistance.
Romanian distribution and after-sales operations are being handled by Materom Group, which will provide vehicle sales, servicing and parts support.
The first Lepas showroom is at Selimbar, just outside Sibiu, where customers can view the L8 and book test drives. The opening forms part of Lepas’ wider push into Europe after the Chery-owned brand began shipping the L8 to several European markets earlier this year.
Lepas positions itself as Chery’s premium new-energy vehicle brand, with plug-in hybrids forming part of its initial overseas expansion.
