Hyundai will launch the China-developed Ioniq V in China on Sept 29, following the start of pre-sales in August at the Chengdu Auto Show.
Beijing Hyundai has confirmed three variants with pre-sale prices from 119,900 to 139,900 yuan (about RM73,000 to RM85,200). The 540 Max starts at 119,900 yuan, the 540 Max+ at 129,900 yuan, and the 650 Max+ at 139,900 yuan.
The battery-electric fastback-styled sedan is Hyundai’s first production Ioniq model developed specifically for China.
Hyundai said its China Design Centre led the project; the production car was unveiled at Auto China 2026 (Beijing Auto Show) in April before pre-sales opened in Chengdu.
Measuring 4,900 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,470 mm high, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, the Ioniq V is offered with a single rear motor in 140 kW or 168 kW outputs. Pre-sale versions are rated at up to 540 km or 650 km CLTC range, depending on battery and variant (other CLTC figures in the lineup include 520 km and 620 km).
Its cabin features a 27-inch 4K display, a head-up display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor. Hyundai has partnered with Momenta for an L2+ driver-assistance system tuned for Chinese roads, while CATL supplies the LFP battery packs.
The Ioniq V is part of Hyundai’s wider China electrification push, under which it plans to introduce 20 new BEV and EREV models over the next five years.
