If you are looking for a badass truck to add to your collection, look no further than the Sting: an apocalypse-ready, go-anywhere armoured and genset-equipped ride based on the Tesla Cybertruck.
Tesla upgrader, Unplugged Performance and its fleet division, UP.FIT. created this intimidating vehicle for Archimedes Defense, a company providing government and defence applications.
The Sting is designed for government and civilian use and comes in three versions: Baja, Protector and APC.
The Sting Baja package includes the UP Invincible off-road components, with the addition of a compact, aviation-derived AMP Drive G125 genset mounted in the frunk. This 800V genset, capable of running on multiple fuels such as jet fuel and diesel, can supercharge the Cybertruck at up to 125kW and charge other vehicles using an included NACS charging cable.
The Sting Protector package builds on the Baja with added protection through bolt-on, bolt-off external offset steel armour plating, capable of withstanding 7.62mm assault rifle rounds. This variant is targeted at private individuals, corporate clients, and government entities operating in moderate threat environments.
For maximum protection, the Sting APC package is the one to choose. It offers even more robust protection, including IED and mine resistance, with upgraded steel and ceramic armour designed to protect against 14.5mm heavy machine gun rounds. An optional genset supports extended missions in high-threat areas.
Sting packages are available for preorder via Archimedes, and Cybertrucks equipped for police use can be purchased through UP.FIT. Unplugged Performance’s Invincible parts are also available separately.
It’s obvious that one has to be rich enough to afford the Cybertruck before even thinking of modding it to be “apocalypse-ready”.
And really the concept of an “apocalypse-ready” truck is more of a marketing gimmick than anything else.
While these trucks are often featured in media related to post-apocalyptic scenarios, some companies and enthusiasts build or customise vehicles for extreme off-road adventures, emergency preparedness, or as a hobby, often drawing inspiration from the doomsday concept.
