The Audi Q6L e-tron, making its world premiere at the Auto China 2024 in Beijing, represents the inaugural rollout of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) specifically tailored for the Chinese market.
As the brand’s latest electric vehicle (EV), the Audi Q6L e-tron will be locally manufactured at the new Audi FAW NEV plant in Changchun, with production slated to begin in late 2024 and deliveries expected in 2025.
Further volume models will follow from 2025 with versions of the Audi A6 e-tron.
Designed for premium electric mobility, the Q6L e-tron distinguishes itself with a longer wheelbase extended by 105 millimeters compared to its global counterpart, facilitating the inclusion of a larger battery. This enhancement enables an impressive range exceeding 700 kilometers per charge as per the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) standards. The vehicle’s “L” designation signifies the extended wheelbase, indicating superior long-distance capabilities.
Audi’s longstanding tradition of creating “L” model variants for the Chinese market continues with the Q6L e-tron, following predecessors like the A6L, A4L, and Q5L. The new model prioritizes space, comfort, and everyday utility, integrated with a fresh interior design philosophy that offers a luxurious passenger experience.
The Audi Q6L e-tron sports a redesigned exterior specific to China, including a revised front end that reflects an evolution of Audi’s design ethos. Unique paint options, such as Lilac Grey, and a sweeping, elongated silhouette accentuate the vehicle’s premium aesthetic. Technological advancements are evident in its lighting systems, including innovative digital OLED rear lights and a novel front light signature that enhance visibility and safety.
Performance-wise, the Q6L e-tron features powerful electric motors and a 107 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, supporting quick charging capabilities through 800-volt technology. This allows for a recharge of up to 260 kilometers in just ten minutes at high-power charging stations, with a boost from 10% to 80% state of charge achievable within 25 minutes.
The vehicle comes in two versions: a rear-wheel-drive model with 255 kW of power, focusing on efficiency and range, and a quattro all-wheel-drive variant with 345 kW, ensuring robust traction and dynamic driving.
The Q6L e-tron’s interior and infotainment systems are markedly tailored to the preferences of Chinese customers, featuring sophisticated driver assistance technologies such as the adaptive Driving Assistant Pro and Parking Assistant Pro. These enhancements are powered by a comprehensive suite of sensors and a new electronic architecture, E3 1.2, designed to facilitate advanced vehicle functionalities and connectivity.
Production of the Audi Q6L e-tron aligns with Audi’s global environmental strategy, “Mission:Zero,” which emphasizes decarbonization, sustainable resource use, and efficiency across its operations.
The Changchun plant is the first Audi facility in China dedicated exclusively to producing electric vehicles.
