Kaiyi Auto is expanding sales of its X7 Hybrid across overseas markets as the Chery-linked Chinese carmaker prepares another SUV, the X7 Plus, for global launch in 2027.
The seven-seat X7 Hybrid has entered markets in Central Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East since its first overseas launch in Uzbekistan in April.
Kaiyi traces its roots to Chery, which established the company in 2014. Ownership later shifted towards state-backed interests in Yibin, Sichuan, although Chery retained an 18% stake as of 2024.
The X7 Hybrid measures 4,710mm long, 1,955mm wide and 1,715mm high, with a 2,800mm wheelbase. It rides on 20-inch wheels with 255/50 tyres.
Its exterior uses a full-width lighting theme, including Sigma-shaped daytime running lights, a dot-matrix front treatment and an illuminated rear badge. Flush powered door handles have a claimed 20kg ice-breaking capability for operation in low temperatures.
Kaiyi said the lighting system also provides automatic high- and low-beam switching, delayed shut-off and several lighting animations.
The hybrid drivetrain provides a claimed combined driving range of more than 1,200km, while 0-100kph takes 7.9 seconds. The vehicle also supports external power discharge.
Uzbekistan was the first export market for the X7 Hybrid, followed by Egypt later in April. Kaiyi said the SUV has since been introduced across several other regions as it expands its overseas business.
The next addition will be the X7 Plus in 2027. Kaiyi said the model will be offered with petrol and hybrid powertrains, along with a new exterior design and upgraded cabin technology.
Kaiyi International currently operates across 57 markets and said it has more than 500 sales outlets worldwide.
