A special vehicle number plate series for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) will be open for bidding from June 13 to 17, with minimum bids starting at RM300.
According to The Star, the “V___MY” registration series was launched as a joint effort between the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry and the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
Bids will be handled through JPJ e-Bid, the department’s online number plate bidding portal.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the plate series could attract buyers who are willing to pay for special or high-value numbers.
His speech was read by Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man in Putrajaya today.
Tiong said proceeds from the initiative would help fund VM2026 promotion, as Malaysia works to draw more domestic and international visitors. Previous special plate launches have raised between RM11 million and RM20 million for JPJ.
He also called on tourism operators, non-governmental organisations and industry players to step up promotion ahead of VM2026.
Malaysia is targeting 47 million international tourists under the campaign, with tourism spending expected to support hotels, restaurants, transport operators, traders and other businesses.
