Porsche has pushed the Taycan Turbo GT deeper into track-car territory, with a new Manthey Kit helping the electric saloon set a fresh Nürburgring-Nordschleife record for electric executive cars.
Development driver Lars Kern completed the 20.832km lap in 6:55.533 minutes in a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package fitted with the new kit.
Porsche said the time is more than nine seconds quicker than the previous record in the class, and 12 seconds faster than Kern’s earlier benchmark in the standard Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package, set in October 2023. The lap time was certified by a notary on site.
The Manthey Kit is not just a visual add-on. It brings changes to the aerodynamics, suspension, tyres, brakes and powertrain, all aimed at circuit use. Porsche said downforce is more than tripled compared with the standard car. At 200kph, total downforce rises from 95kg to 310kg.
At the new 310kph top speed, the car is said to generate about 740kg of downforce.
The aero package includes a larger rear wing with bigger end plates, a revised front diffuser, a more aggressive rear diffuser, underbody air deflectors and carbon aerodiscs for the rear wheels. Drivers can also choose between lower- and higher-downforce settings for track use.
There is more muscle too. Porsche has optimised the high-voltage battery, control unit and pulse inverters, raising maximum discharge current from 1,100 amps to 1,300 amps.
System output climbs by 20kW to 600kW, while Launch Control torque rises to 1,270Nm. Attack Mode adds a short 130kW boost, giving a 10-second peak of 730kW.
The kit also adds lightweight 21-inch forged wheels, titanium wheel bolts, road-legal track tyres, retuned Porsche Active Ride suspension, revised front- and rear-axle steering, recalibrated all-wheel drive and larger brakes measuring 440mm at the front and 410mm at the rear.
“With the new Manthey Kit, we are offering a unique upgrade for the Taycan Turbo GT,” said Porsche head of the Taycan model line Kevin Giek.
Kern said the car felt more stable in fast sections and under braking, helped by stronger aero, grippier tyres and the extra overboost. Porsche said the kit will be available to order from June as a retrofit package for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package.
