SAIC Motor Malaysia gave KLIMS 2026 a dose of old-school club energy over the weekend, bringing together 39 privately owned MGs for a car club gathering that mixed chrome, nostalgia and battery power.
The line-up was split between 34 modern MG electric vehicles and five classic MGs, showing how far the badge has travelled from British roadsters to today’s China-built EVs.
On the newer side were the MGS5 EV, MG ZS, MG4 and Cyberster. The heritage corner had more old-money charm, with classics including the MG TD, MG YT Tourer, MG Midget, MGB GT and MGA.
The event involved Kelab MG Malaysia, which marks its 50th year, and MG EV Club Malaysia, a newer group with about 360 members nationwide.
That made the gathering akin to a family reunion — one where some relatives arrive smelling faintly of petrol and others glide in quietly on electrons.
SAIC Motor Malaysia chief operating officer Hoffen Teh said the gathering gave heritage and modern MG owners a chance to connect, while also showing prospective buyers the community around the brand.
MG also used KLIMS 2026 to preview the all-new MG ZS. Early bookings during the promotional period require a RM99 fee and come with a RM3,000 rebate plus three years of complimentary maintenance.
