Horse Powertrain has revealed the W30, its first V6 engine, ahead of the Beijing Auto Show 2026, describing it as a compact hybrid-focused unit for carmakers that want strong output in a smaller package.
The company said the new 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol V6 is intended for mild-hybrid, full-hybrid and plug-in hybrid applications.
Horse said the W30 can produce 350-400kW (536hp), 600-700Nm, and rev to 8,000rpm. It also claims a weight of just 160kg, which it said is 10kg lighter than the next-lightest V6 on the market.
The engine uses a 90-degree V-angle and can be mounted in either transverse or longitudinal form, giving manufacturers more flexibility over how it is installed.
The engine is being shown alongside Horse’s new 4LDHT four-speed hybrid transmission.
That gearbox weighs 199kg, uses an 800V system, and adopts a P1 + P3 layout with two electric motors.
Horse listed the P1 motor at 250-300kW and the P3 motor at 350-450kW, with maximum wheel torque of more than 9,200Nm.
In essence, Horse is presenting the W30 as part of a broader hybrid system for manufacturers that still want six-cylinder performance while cutting fuel use and emissions.
The company said the first vehicles using the W30 are due on the road in 2028.
