MG Motor Malaysia has reduced prices for the MG4 electric hatchback and rolled out wider promotions across its line-up, aiming to make EV ownership — and MG ownership in general — more accessible.

The MG4 now starts at RM100,888 for the Lux, RM128,888 for the Lux Extended and RM138,888 for the range-topping XPower.

MG said the revisions deliver savings of more than RM28,000, sharpening a value pitch for what remains the only rear-wheel-drive hatchback in its class.

Equipment and positioning remain unchanged.

The Lux targets daily use with a simpler specification, the Lux Extended is aimed at drivers who want longer range, and the dual-motor XPower caters to buyers seeking performance.

To sweeten the deal, each MG4 includes either a complimentary 7kW AC wallbox or charging credits.

MG pegs the total benefit at up to RM10,000 for the XPower and Lux Extended, and RM7,000 for the Lux.

Ownership is backed by a seven-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/180,000 km high-voltage battery warranty and an eight-year/160,000 km drive motor and MCU warranty (whichever comes first).

MG has also announced an “Ultimate Ownership Package” for the recently launched MGS5 EV.

Buyers can enjoy savings of up to RM10,000, again with a choice of a complimentary 7kW AC wallbox or charging credits.

The MGS5 EV uses an ultra-thin horizontal battery layout to free up cabin space and lower the centre of gravity.

An adaptive pressure control system is fitted to help reduce cell expansion, which MG says improves safety and battery durability.

Two trims are offered: COM and LUX. The COM variant can be had with a 49 kWh battery (up to 340 km WLTP) or a 62 kWh battery (up to 430 km WLTP).

The LUX is paired with the 62 kWh pack and is rated at up to 425 km. All versions are rear-wheel-drive with outputs of 170 PS and 250 Nm, and include 7kW AC charging as standard. Prices begin at RM115,900.

For buyers sticking with petrol, MG is offering cash rebates of up to RM12,000 on the HS and up to RM8,000 on the MG5.

Customers may also opt for six months of free instalments alongside an additional cash rebate — offers that will appeal to cost-conscious motorists amid Malaysia’s ongoing petrol subsidy.
