Genesis says the all-electric GV60 Magma has completed final testing ahead of its launch later this year.
Engineers ran the car in deep winter at Arjeplog in Sweden, then in desert-like heat at the California Proving Ground.
Cold, high-altitude work took place in New Zealand, with further road miles in Spain. The last checks were in South Korea in September, including a Namyang–Chuncheon road drive and laps at Inje Speedium to make sure it goes hard and still rides comfortably.
The Magma will be the first performance model in the GV60 line. Official figures are still under wraps, but expect output that could be close to 700hp.
Features are likely to mirror Hyundai’s hot EVs with adjustable torque split, a temporary power boost, launch control and simulated shift logic.
For reference, today’s GV60 Performance is rated at up to 429hp and 700Nm and does 0–100 kph in 3.7 seconds. The wider test work on the Magma hints at stronger cooling and durability so it can keep delivering power on track or in hot weather.
Sales will start in South Korea, then expand to the United States and Europe.
Prices are not confirmed. The current GV60 Performance begins at US$69,900 (RM295,000) in the US. Given the upgrades, the Magma is expected to land at about US$75,000 (RM316,000) or more, depending on market.
Genesis said the car was developed across its multiple sites globally to ensure it feels stable at speed, stops well and stays comfortable day to day.
