Perodua has presented a half-cut version of its electric vehicle prototype at the Malaysian Autoshow 2025, offering visitors a clear view of its design and engineering.
The display, which forms the culmination of the national carmaker’s EV journey, highlights both the interior layout and the vehicle’s mechanical components.
A simulated drive experience is also available to showcase the prototype’s on-road potential.
The car is scheduled to launch by Q4 this year.
“Our display highlights Malaysia’s capabilities in adopting and assimilating EV technologies,” said Perodua president and CEO Datuk Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
In addition to the half-cut EV, Perodua is featuring the X06E, a collaborative hybrid/electric vehicle prototype developed with Politeknik Muadzam Shah.
The project demonstrates the technical proficiency of Malaysian students and supports Perodua’s mission to nurture the domestic automotive ecosystem through knowledge transfer and hands-on experience.
Perodua has also partnered with Austrian firm Emerald Horizon to explore thorium-based alternative energy. Zainal explained that thorium, a rare earth element, could offer a low-carbon electricity source, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to future clean-energy use.
Currently, Perodua’s manufacturing plants incorporate solar panels and use natural gas to help achieve its carbon-neutral target by 2050.
Perodua is exhibiting at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (May 9-15) in Serdang, Selangor.
