MG Motor Malaysia has unveiled pricing for its all-new MGS5 EV, a B-segment electric SUV offered in two variants and two battery capacities.

The entry-level COM model with a 49 kWh battery is priced at RM115,900, while the COM Long Range with a 62 kWh pack costs RM125,900.

The top-spec LUX Long Range, also featuring the 62 kWh battery, carries a price tag of RM135,900.

In celebration of MG’s first anniversary in Malaysia, the first 500 buyers will benefit from an exclusive RM6,000 early-access discount, reducing the starting price to RM109,900, and will receive a complimentary 7 kW Wallbox AC charger (installation excluded).

All MGS5 EV variants share a rear-wheel-drive configuration that delivers 170 PS and 250 Nm of torque.

The standard 49 kWh battery provides a WLTP range of up to 340 km, while the 62 kWh option extends range to 430 km. AC charging is supported at 7 kW across all models.

Exclusive to the LUX variant is DC fast-charging capability at up to 150 kW, enabling the battery to recharge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 26 minutes.

The LUX model also adds premium appointments including 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, perforated leather-fabric seats emblazoned with the MG logo, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated leather steering wheel, wireless phone charging pad, six premium speakers, electric tailgate and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

All MGS5 EVs feature LED headlamps with “Racing Flag”–themed daytime running lights, MG’s signature Arch Taillights, Vehicle-to-Load functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch central touchscreen with voice command, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and the iSMART connectivity system.

MG offers a warranty package comprising a seven-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 180,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, and an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty for the drive motor and motor control unit.

The MGS5 EV is available in five colours — Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red and Elegant Latte — and boasts up to 1,441 litres of boot space with the rear seats folded, thanks to its ultra-thin horizontal battery layout and low-centre-of-gravity design.

Prospective buyers can experience the MGS5 EV at the “Dare to Love” roadshow at Centre Court, Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur from May 20-25.

Test drives of the MGS5 EV, MG5, MG4, MG HS and the all-electric MG Cyberster soft-top roadster are available.

Additional incentives during the event include a RM5,000 rebate on the MG5 and MG HS, flexible ownership plans for the MG4 from RM974 per month, and an unlimited charging package with JomCharge, a Wallbox AC charger and a limited-edition MG Cyberster die-cast model for Cyberster bookings.
