Proton’s electric offering is powering the company’s rebound as the e.MAS 7 crossed the 1,000-unit milestone in February 2025.
Delivering 580 units domestically — and with shipments already reaching export markets such as Nepal, Singapore, and Trinidad & Tobago — the EV has generated more than 4,500 bookings from customers.
This strong start signals growing local and international appetite for Proton’s first electric vehicle and motivates the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the emerging EV sector.
The automaker’s overall group sales climbed 13.2% in February, with 11,232 units sold across its various business channels, capturing an estimated 17.2% market share from a total industry volume forecast of 65,276 units.
Amid the recovery following a sluggish start to the year, Proton’s range of internal combustion engine models has also continued to perform robustly.
The S70 remains the best-selling C-segment sedan in Malaysia, posting 2,340 units and leading its category for two consecutive months. The ever-popular X50, a B-segment SUV that has sold nearly 130,000 units since its debut in 2020, added 1,824 units in February, with a year-to-date total of 3,259 units.
Other models bolstering Proton’s performance include the D-segment flagship X90 and the X70, while the Saga led overall model sales with 5,024 units.
The Persona and Iriz followed with 1,323 and 283 units, respectively.
In addition to domestic successes, Proton’s export strategy is taking shape as CKD assembly for the left-hand-drive Saga started at an Egyptian facility, a move that supports future market expansion and aligns with the company’s goal of achieving 10% of its sales from exports by 2030.
