Hyundai has its Inster, and soon affiliate Kia is set to launch its own small electric car. The Concept EV2, Kia’s smallest electric model, will be revealed on Feb 27 at Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain. This unveiling forms part of Kia’s broader new electric vehicle strategy, which also includes two additional models – the EV4 and the PV5.
The EV4, which made its first appearance in concept form at Kia’s inaugural EV Day near Seoul in 2023, and the PV5, the first model based on Kia’s dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV), were both previously showcased.
The PV5 was presented as a concept at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Teaser images and video clips have already offered glimpses of the design language underpinning these new models, highlighting aesthetics inspired by Kia’s Opposites United philosophy.
The three vehicles use Kia’s advanced electric platform technology. The PBV platform is a battery electric skateboard architecture that allows for the flexible integration of various vehicle body types, supporting a versatile product line-up. During Kia EV Day, members of Kia’s senior leadership team will outline the company’s comprehensive PBV strategy, detailing the business vision, product range and launch plans that support the PV5 rollout.
The trio of models – the Concept EV2, EV4 and PV5 – respresent Kia’s ambition to lead global sustainable mobility in both passenger and business sectors.
