Ferrari has confirmed plans to launch its first all-electric vehicle later this year as part of a series of six new models debuting in 2025.
The electric car, referred to as the “Ferrari elettrica”, is scheduled for an official unveiling on Oct 9 during the firm’s Capital Markets Day in Maranello, Italy.
The automaker, which recorded record sales last year, is moving decisively into electrification as it aims for 60 percent of its sales to be electric or plug-in hybrid by the end of next year.
In 2024, hybrid models accounted for 51 percent of Ferrari’s shipments, with the remaining vehicles powered solely by internal combustion engines.
The new electric model has been observed in public testing. Recently, Instagram account Varryx posted a video of the camouflaged car, which provided the closest look yet at the vehicle.
The clip revealed a design that appears crossover-like, featuring distinctive new headlights, refined body panels, and a sound system that mimics the exhaust note of a conventional engine.
Although details remain scarce, industry sources have previously suggested that the vehicle could carry a price tag of at least €500,000 (RM2.3mil), a figure that Ferrari’s CEO Benedetto Vigna indicated would be finalised roughly a month prior to launch.
To pave the way to electrification, Ferrari opened a dedicated e-building facility in June.
This new plant is tasked with manufacturing e-motors, batteries, and inverters for both electric and plug-in hybrid models, underscoring the firm’s determination to maintain its reputation for high performance while adapting to stricter emissions regulations.
The launch of the first EV comes at a time when production of traditional models, such as the SF90 Stradale, has ceased, paving the way for a new era of innovation.
While the company remains discreet about the remaining five new models, hints of updates to existing lines such as the 296 and Purosangue have been noted.
