Mercedes-Benz has announced updates to its EQS and EQE models in response to customer feedback on their design and functionality. Core Mercedes owners had previously expressed their dismay over the rounded shapes of previous EQE and EQS models.

In response, the company is introducing a series of enhancements aimed at boosting the status, long-distance capability, comfort, versatility, and luxury of these vehicles.

The refreshed EQS now features a redesigned radiator grille adorned with chrome applications and an upright Mercedes star, aiming to blend traditional Mercedes-Benz luxury cues with the brand’s electric EQ aesthetic.

The EQS also sees improvements in battery capacity, increasing from 108.4 kWh to 118 kWh, which boosts the car’s range by more than 11 percent, allowing the EQS 450 4Matic to travel up to 799km (+82km) on a single charge.

Towing capacity for the EQS and EQE sedans equipped with the 4Matic system has been increased significantly from 750kg to 1,700kg, making it competitive with the SUV versions of these models. This enhancement enables the sedans to tow substantial loads, such as horse trailers.

In terms of comfort, the EQS introduces the Rear Comfort Package Plus, which includes executive seats with enhanced features such as a special slanted footrest, adjustable backrests, seat heating Plus, and neck and shoulder heating. These additions aim to significantly improve the passenger experience, especially for long-distance travel.

Further updates include a new infotainment system with faster processors and more intuitive controls. The interior also features high-quality materials and detailing, such as galvanised chrome for the ventilation nozzles and Nappa leather piping on additional cushions.

Mercedes-Benz also continues to push the boundaries of driving technology with the introduction of the “Automatic Lane Change” function. This system, part of the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with Active Steering Assist, allows the EQS to change lanes autonomously on dual-lane highways under certain conditions, enhancing both safety and convenience for the driver.

Additionally, the launch of the Manufaktur Selection special edition offers an even more luxurious version of the EQS sedan. This edition includes bespoke features such as obsidian metallic paint, exclusive Nappa leather upholstery, special edition badges, and enhanced styling elements like AMG light-alloy wheels and an illuminated Mercedes-Benz lettering on the door sills.

These enhancements are available without any increase in the base price of the vehicles, maintaining economic accessibility for potential buyers. The new EQS can be ordered starting April 25 with the Manufaktur Selection also available from the same date for an extra €16,600.50 (around RM85,000).

Apart from the EQS and EQE, the other electric models namely the SUV models of the EQS and EQE would also benefit from many of the improvements presented.
