BYD Sime Motors has opened its largest 3S centre in Sarawak, expanding electric vehicle sales and aftersales support in Miri and the northern part of the state.
The 12,228 sq ft facility combines sales, service and spare parts operations under one roof. Its 5,838 sq ft showroom can accommodate five vehicles, while the 6,390 sq ft service centre has six bays capable of handling up to 35 vehicles daily.
Other facilities include a customer lounge, discussion room, vehicle delivery area and EV charging facilities for sales and service customers.
The centre is operated by Kah Progression Auto Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oriental Holdings Bhd, and employs 15 people across sales and aftersales operations.
Sime Motors Southeast Asia managing director Jeffrey Gan said the expansion would give BYD greater capacity to support customers as EV ownership grows in Sarawak.
The Miri opening brings BYD’s authorised outlet network in Sarawak to three locations, alongside Kuching and Sibu.
In neighbouring Sabah, Sime Motors established East Malaysia’s first BYD 3S centre in Kota Kinabalu in December 2024.
BYD Malaysia managing director Jacob Ma said the company was expanding its network beyond major cities to improve access to vehicles and aftersales services.
To mark the opening, Kah Progression Auto will hold a public roadshow at Bintang Megamall’s Ground Floor, East Court (Old Wing), from Oct 16 to 18.
The event will run daily from 10am to 10pm.
