Bentley’s first fully electric production vehicle, the Torcal, made its Asia-Pacific debut in Seoul, South Korea, today following its world premiere in London on Sept 23.
The luxury SUV marks Bentley’s entry into the battery-electric market, joining the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga as the British marque’s fourth model line.
Two variants are available, both featuring dual electric motors and all-wheel drive.
The standard Torcal produces 604kW (821PS) and 1,194Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100kph in 3.4 seconds. Its top speed is 250kph.
The more powerful Torcal S develops 653kW (888PS) and 1,350Nm with launch control activated. It completes the 0-100kph sprint in 2.9 seconds and reaches 260kph.
Korean prices start from 330 million won (about RM1 million).
The Torcal is expected to launch in Malaysia and Singapore in the first half of 2027, with deliveries in the latter part of the year. Pricing in Malaysia is from RM1.33 million (excluding road tax and insurance). Bentley Asia Pacific regional director Dave Hayter told Tiencars the BEV pricing would be set from S$985,000 (RM3.2 million before COE and options) in Singapore.
Both versions use an 800V electrical architecture and a 113kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a claimed driving range of up to 600km under the WLTP cycle.
DC fast charging at up to 400kW allows the battery to be replenished from 10% to 80% in about 16 minutes under suitable conditions.
Other technical features include fully active suspension, rear-wheel steering and Bentley’s Dynamic Symphony, which uses recordings of musical instruments to provide acceleration-related sound feedback.
The Torcal will be manufactured at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England.
Seoul’s selection for the regional unveiling reflects South Korea’s importance to Bentley.
The country was Bentley’s largest Asia-Pacific market for two consecutive years, recording 775 vehicle sales in 2022 and 810 in 2023. It also ranked fifth globally for Bentley sales in 2023.
Bentley’s local presence includes the Bentley Cube in Seoul’s affluent Cheongdam district, opened in March 2023 by dealer partner Charmzone Automotive, which operates Bentley Seoul.
The luxury retail facility houses the Batur Studio Suite for Mulliner bespoke commissions and the Azure Lounge for owners.
The Bentley Cube was the first outlet to introduce the company’s contemporary luxury lifestyle retail concept, which subsequently influenced its international showroom design.
