Singapore’s Charge+ and Malaysia’s ChargeSini, two leading electric vehicle (EV) charging operators, have entered into a roaming collaboration agreement, enabling EV drivers to access each other’s charging networks across borders.
This move is supported by both governments’ emphasis on the EV sector as a crucial growth area, backed by pro-EV policies aimed at boosting EV adoption.
The agreement, announced in Singapore by Charge+ CEO Goh Chee Kiong and ChargeSini founder and CEO James Goh, is set to simplify cross-border EV charging and bolster driver confidence in long-distance travel.
Charge+, a prominent EV charging provider in Southeast Asia, manages around 2,000 charging points and is on a mission to establish 30,000 points by 2030.
The firm is also developing a 5,000km EV charging highway across five countries, creating the region’s longest EV charging infrastructure. Prior to this, Charge+ had formed roaming agreements with major regional players, enhancing the EV charging framework in Southeast Asia.
ChargeSini, operating under Chargehere EV Solution Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, is a top provider with a network of 701 charging bays across 224 hubs, including both DC and AC charging points.
This collaboration with Charge+ will allow ChargeSini’s app users to tap into an extensive charging network, further streamlining the EV charging process in the region and addressing the concerns of potential EV buyers regarding the complexities of using multiple apps for charging access.
