Porsche today introduced the all-electric Macan to the world from Singapore, delivering a compact SUV that promises powerful performance and practicality.
Ten years after its initial debut, the Macan enters its second generation with electric variants offering powertrains up to 470 kW (639 PS). The Macan is the second pure electric model after the Taycan for Porsche.
These new variants promise E-Performance on any terrain with fast charging capabilities of up to 270 kW and a range of up to 613 km (WLTP). The Macan 4 and Macan Turbo aim to fulfill the needs of SUV customers with their long-distance range and day-to-day usability.
The Macan 4 produces up to 300 kW (408 PS), while the Macan Turbo offers 470 kW (639 PS), with respective torque figures of 650 Nm and 1,130 Nm.
The Macan 4 accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 5.2 seconds, and the Macan Turbo in 3.3 seconds, achieving top speeds of 220kph and 260 kph respectively.
The electric motors, powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, are part of the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, a first for . The battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 21 minutes at suitable fast-charging stations.
The new Macan models boast a drag coefficient of 0.25, making them among the most streamlined SUVs. The Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system, featuring active and passive elements, contributes to this efficiency.
The Macan also incorporates an Integrated Power Box (IPB) combining the AC charger, high-voltage heater, and DC/DC converter to save space and weight.
The Macan’s design, with sporty proportions and coupé-like lines, features 22-inch wheels and a longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor.
The interior is designed for both performance and comfort, with up to 540 liters of luggage space behind the rear seats and an additional 84 liters in the front trunk. Folding the rear seats increases capacity to 1,348 liters. The Macan also supports a towing capacity of 2,000 kg.
The cockpit includes a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch central display, with an optional 10.9-inch screen for the passenger. The new infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS, features the “Hey ” voice assistant and allows direct access to third-party apps.
Both Macan models feature all-wheel drive with Traction Management (ePTM), responding to slip within 10 milliseconds. The Macan Turbo includes air suspension with Active Suspension Management (PASM) and two-valve damper technology, offering a balance between comfort and performance. The optional rear-axle steering enhances maneuverability and stability.
Since its launch in 2014, has sold over 800,000 Macan models globally. The new all-electric Macan, produced in a net carbon-neutral facility at Plant Leipzig, is set to continue this success. Deliveries to the first customers are expected in the second half of the year.
The all-electric Macan represents a significant advancement in combining high-performance electric powertrains with practical everyday usability, setting new standards in the SUV segment.
