BYD today launched the Seal 6 in Malaysia in its world debut.
The fully imported model is a rear-wheel-drive compact electric sedan offered in two trims. They are: Dynamic at RM100,000 and Premium at RM115,800 (OTR, without insurance).
The car is backed by a 6-year/150,000km warranty, plus 8-year/160,000 km cover for the battery and e-drive.
The launch package for the Seal 6 is limited to the first 800 customers.
Key highlights are:
– Dynamic: free wallbox charger worth RM3,288.
– Premium (choose one):
a.) Landed: free wallbox (RM3,288) + RM3,000 launch rebate; or
b.) High-rise: 12-month Sime Platinum 4+ by Power Up Malaysia (4× mobile DC charges/month, 2× detailing/month, 2× EV rescue/year; selected areas only) + RM1,000 launch rebate.
The Malaysian model is the international version with styling closer to the Atto 2/Atto 3 and links to the Qin L EV line.
It’s smaller and positioned below the Seal, which is also offered in two versions and priced from RM172,000.
Dimensions are 4,720 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,495 mm tall, on a 2,820 mm wheelbase.
There’s a 65-litre frunk and a quoted 525 litres of total cargo space (boot plus frunk).
Exterior features include LED headlamps and full-width light bars; Premium adds 18-inch wheels and extra lighting details. Colours are Arctic White, Misty Blue and Harbour Grey.
Both variants use a BYD Blade LFP battery of 56.64 kWh.
Official range is 485km on the NEDC cycle, equivalent to about 412km WLTP.
The Seal 6 supports DC fast charging at up to 100 kW, with a claimed 30–80% top-up in 23 minutes; AC charging is limited to just 7kW.
The Dynamic uses a 95kW, 220Nm rear motor for 0–100kph in 10.9 seconds and a 160kph top speed, while the Premium steps up to 160kW and 330Nm, cutting the 0–100 kph sprint to 7.5 seconds and raising top speed to 180kph.
From 2026, the estimated annual EV road tax is RM60 for the Dynamic and RM180 for the Premium.
Inside, you get an 8.8-inch digital cluster and a 12.8-inch centre screen (fixed), voice control in English, Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese, synthetic leather upholstery, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, USB-A/USB-C ports and a 6-speaker audio system.
Premium adds a panoramic glass roof with powered sunshade, wireless charging, ambient lighting, extra seat adjustment, front passenger ventilation and an 8-speaker system.
Safety and driver aids include six airbags, full-speed adaptive cruise with Stop & Go, AEB, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, intelligent high beam, tyre-pressure monitoring and a 360-degree camera.
The chassis uses dual ball-joint MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link rear, with tuning for Malaysian roads.
Under the skin, the Seal 6 sits on e-Platform 3.0 with Cell-to-Body integration for higher rigidity and improved crash performance.
Phone-as-key access is supported via BYD Digital Key (NFC and Bluetooth).
The brochure lists high-voltage modules within the powertrain set-up (motor, motor controller, DC unit and control units).
