Who needs high-octane when you can sip high-grade?

Toyota Motor Corporation decided on July 14 that surviving Tokyo rush hour should involve more zen than revs, unveiling Morizo Tea —premium green tea christened after chairman Akio Toyoda’s alter ego “Morizo”.

The first pour-off took place at Lexus’s swankiest watering holes in Tokyo: “Lexus Meets…” in midtown Hibiya and “Intersect By Lexus” in Minami-Aoyama.

Brewing under the lofty mantra “Morizo, drinking the forest”, this concoction salutes the lush environs of Fuji Speedway, Toyoda’s local stomping ground.

Its core is pesticide-free Shizuoka green tea, jazzed up (so they say) with kinmokusei blossoms, kuromoji twigs, verbena leaves and a whisper of cinnamon — because why not? Expect a slap of umami, a playful tug of bitterness and an aftertaste so soft it practically bows.

Meant to be savoured like a vintage Bordeaux — minus the hangover — Morizo Tea doubles as Toyota’s latest green credential.

A slice of every sale funds reforestation near Fuji Speedway, proving Toyota can do more than build SUVs at environmental cost.

In short, the “Morizo” name has gone from racing stripes to tea leaves, marrying throttle-happy heritage with eco-friendly indulgence — one polite sip at a time.
