Bermaz Auto Berhad (BAuto) is set to introduce the Xpeng X9 luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and the Changan Deepal S07 sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Malaysia within the first half of the year.

Both cars were previewed at Bermaz Auto media night at a resort hotel in Shah Alam.

Earlier in the day, a media drive of the fifth-generation pre-facelift Kia Sportage was organised from Glenmarie, Shah Alam to Janda Baik, Pahang, and back. BAuto also holds the franchise to the Kia brand.

    Back to Xpeng and Deepal.

    Xpeng X9

The X9, a fully electric MPV with three-row seating, will be offered in Standard Range, Long Range, and Long Range variants with zero-gravity seats.

The zero-gravity seats provide enhanced comfort and ergonomic support. It is expected to be priced below the Zeekr 009’s RM350,000 price and would certianly bring the fight to traditional mainstays such as the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire.

    The X9 features a spacious cabin, all-electric seats, a 10.25-inch driver display, a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, and a 21.4-inch entertainment screen.

Other features include a dual-chamber air suspension and an LFP battery pack with liquid cooling, providing a WLTP-rated range of up to 575 km. It is expected to be front-wheel drive with a 320hp motor and a 0-100kph acceleration of 7.7 seconds.

An Xpeng exceutive said the X9 will be specified to a much higher luxury standard unlike the model on display.

    Deepal S07

The Deepal S07, with a sub-RM200,000 price, will compete in the mid-size electric SUV segment. It features a sleek coupe-like design with frameless windows and large wheels.

Interior highlights include an Intelligent Driver Assistance System, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, and an augmented reality head-up display. The vehicle offers a WLTP range of 475km.

BAuto has secured exclusive distribution rights for Deepal EVs in Malaysia, covering sales, spare parts, and after-sales services. Deepal is a sub-brand of Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd., one of China’s largest automakers with over 40 years of industry experience.
