BMW has unveiled the new iX4, an electric SUV-coupé built on its Neue Klasse architecture, offering up to 828km of WLTP range, 400kW DC charging and a high-performance M60 flagship.

The iX4 joins the iX3 in BMW’s expanding Neue Klasse line-up, adopting a sleeker roofline and sportier styling while sharing the latest generation of electric drive and digital technologies.

Two all-wheel-drive variants will be available when the model launches in March 2027, followed by the more powerful M60 xDrive.

The iX4 50 xDrive produces 345kW and 645Nm from two electric motors, accelerating from 0–100kph in 4.9 seconds. Top speed is 210kph.

Its 108.7kWh usable battery delivers up to 828km under WLTP testing, making it the longest-range version in the line-up.

The entry-level iX4 40 xDrive also uses two motors, producing 275kW and 520Nm. It completes the century sprint in 5.6 seconds and offers up to 638km of WLTP range.

Topping the range is the iX4 M60 xDrive, with 450kW and 875Nm. It accelerates from 0–100kph in 3.9 seconds, reaches 240kph and has a provisional maximum WLTP range of 777km.

The M60 can be ordered from January 2027, although BMW has yet to finalise its homologated performance and range figures.

All three variants use BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, incorporating cylindrical battery cells, an 800V electrical architecture and improved electric motors.

On the iX4 50 xDrive, DC charging peaks at 400kW, allowing up to 387km of WLTP range to be added in 10 minutes under ideal conditions. Bidirectional charging is also supported.

The iX4 adopts BMW’s latest design language, with vertically emphasised kidney grilles integrated into the front lighting arrangement, short overhangs and a pronounced coupé roofline.

At the rear, slim horizontal lights, a sculpted tailgate and an integrated spoiler distinguish it from the more conventional iX3.

An M Sport package is standard across the range, including 20-inch alloy wheels and M Sport brakes. The M60 receives 21-inch wheels, distinctive exterior detailing and a larger rear spoiler.

Inside, BMW Panoramic iDrive combines a 17.9-inch central touchscreen with Panoramic Vision, which projects information across the lower windscreen. A 3D head-up display is also part of the system.

The cabin features a standard panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable front seats and seven interior trim choices. The rear backrests split 40:20:40.

BMW’s Heart of Joy computer coordinates power delivery, braking and driving dynamics, with processing speeds claimed to be 10 times faster than previous systems.

The M60 gains adaptive M suspension and an electronically controlled rear differential as standard. Adaptive suspension is optional on other variants.

Driver assistance includes Motorway Assistant, allowing hands-free driving at speeds up to 130kph on approved roads in supported markets.

German-market specifications and equipment may differ from those offered elsewhere.
