Omoda & Jaecoo will debut a new 5-kWh battery for the Omoda 7 SHS-H at its International User Summit in Wuhu, China, later this month.
The company described the system as a “large-battery HEV” and said its global debut would take place during the Oct 18-24 event.
Technical details remain limited. Omoda & Jaecoo has yet to disclose the battery chemistry, electric-only driving capability, motor output or how the new system differs from its other Super Hybrid System (SHS) applications.
The Omoda 7 SHS-H would also take part in a long-distance Super Hybrid Marathon alongside the Omoda 4 SHS-H and Omoda 5 NEXT.
The company said the exercise would test the endurance and performance of its hybrid technology, although the route and target distance have not been announced.
Omoda & Jaecoo had previously used long-distance runs to promote its SHS models. A Jaecoo 7 SHS-P covered 1,333km on one tank of fuel and one charge at the UTAC Millbrook test facility in Britain, while a Jaecoo 8 SHS-P recorded a 1,660km combined driving range in Indonesia to claim a Guinness World Records title.
The Wuhu summit would also feature demonstrations of the company’s intelligent parking and AI cabin technologies.
