Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has confirmed the GLC 300 4Matic Electric for the Malaysian market following a preview of the new electric GLC in Singapore.
The Malaysian model will be offered in two versions. The GLC 300 4Matic electric Avantgarde carries an estimated price of RM389,000, while the AMG Line Plus is pegged at RM399,000. Pre-bookings are open.
The GLC 300 4Matic Electric will initially arrive as a CBU import, with local assembly in Pekan, Pahang expected to follow later
Both use a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 310 kW, or 421 PS, and 800 Nm. Mercedes-Benz quotes 0-100 kph in 4.7 seconds and a 210 kph top speed.
An 85 kWh usable lithium-ion battery provides a WLTP range of 523 to 616 km. The 800V electrical system supports DC charging at up to 320 kW for the Malaysian specification, with a 10-80% charge taking 22 minutes under suitable conditions.
Mercedes-Benz said up to 255 km of WLTP range can be added in 10 minutes. The Malaysian GLC 300 also gets a 22 kW AC onboard charger.
There is a 128-litre front luggage compartment in addition to a 570-litre rear boot, which expands to 1,740 litres with the rear seats folded. Braked towing capacity is rated at up to 2,400 kg.
Inside, the electric GLC runs the Mercedes-Benz Operating System, or MB.OS. The available 99.3 cm MBUX Hyperscreen spans much of the dashboard and integrates infotainment, charging, comfort and driver-assistance functions.
While higher-spec global versions can be equipped with air suspension and rear-axle steering, Malaysian media briefed at the preview reported that the local GLC 300 will use passive comfort suspension and omit rear-wheel steering.
The vehicle displayed in Singapore was a higher-output GLC 400 4Matic electric, rather than the Malaysian GLC 300 specification.
Mercedes-Benz also previewed the CLA 200 AMG Line for Malaysia. Unlike the battery-electric CLA already offered by the company, the CLA 200 uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 48V hybrid system.
The four-cylinder engine produces 120 kW/163 PS and 250 Nm, assisted by a 22 kW electric motor integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Combined output is 135 kW/184 PS and 330 Nm, with 0-100 kph taking 8.0 seconds.
The CLA 200 carries an estimated price of RM275,000 and is planned for local assembly in Pekan, Pahang. Like the GLC 300 Electric, initial units are expected to be fully imported before CKD production begins.
