Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the EX30 Cross Country, adding a more rugged all-wheel-drive version of its smallest electric SUV to the local line-up.
Priced at RM218,888 on-the-road without insurance, the locally assembled model becomes Volvo’s first fully electric Cross Country model in Malaysia.
The EX30 Cross Country uses two electric motors producing a combined 315 kW (428 PS) and 543 Nm. Drive goes to all four wheels, with the EV completing the 0-100 kph sprint in 3.7 seconds before reaching an electronically limited 180 kph.
A 69 kWh battery is fitted. Malaysian launch information puts WLTP range at up to 437 km, while DC charging at up to 175 kW takes the battery from 10% to 80% in about 27 minutes.
Volvo has raised the Cross Country’s ride height, giving it 190 mm of ground clearance. The suspension and steering have also been revised for the model.
Exterior changes include dark front and rear panels, extended wheel arches, skid plates and 19-inch wheels. The front panel carries a graphic depicting the topography of Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest mountain.
The cabin retains the EX30’s minimalist layout, including a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with Google built-in, Harman Kardon audio, panoramic glass roof and denim-based interior trim.
Volvo said the Cross Country concept dates back to 1997, with the EX30 bringing the treatment into its fully electric range for the first time.
For the first 100 Malaysian reservations, Volvo Car Malaysia is offering a RM12,000 rebate together with a Volvo wallbox, load carriers and roof basket.
The regular rear-wheel-drive EX30 Ultra remains in the Malaysian range, now priced at RM198,888.
