Forget doughnuts and radar guns — Italy’s finest just got themselves a plug-in hybrid supercar.
Lamborghini has handed over its new Temerario, the Huracán’s PHEV successor, to the Italian State Police, unveiled at the firm’s Sant’Agata Bolognese base with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi in attendance.
Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann hosted the handover, alongside Prefect Renato Cortese of the police’s traffic and special units division.
It’s a partnership with proper pedigree, too. Back in 2004, Lamborghini’s first Gallardo joined the fleet and, within months, was ferrying donor organs across the country.
Since then, the LP 560-4, the Huracán, and more recently the Urus Performante have all pulled duty, racking up over 200 organ transport missions and more than 1,500 road safety events between them.
Now it’s the Temerario’s turn. Under that dramatic bodywork sits a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 married to three electric motors, producing a thumping 920bhp combined.
That’s not just showboating — it means blistering pace when every second counts, whether that’s rushing a kidney to hospital or tearing along the autostrada on patrol.
The launch also saw the unveiling of “I motori della Polizia”, a new book charting the vehicles that have shaped the force’s history, published by Giunti Editore and Giorgio Nada Editore.
