BYD has priced the Ti 7 from £47,995 (about RM263,400) in the UK, where the boxy plug-in hybrid will be sold only in Excellence AWD form.
It is BYD’s first seven-seat model for the British market. The seating layout was developed specifically for the UK and Europe, while the Ti 7 also introduces the company’s DM-p performance hybrid system to its local range.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors, one on each axle. Combined output is 408 PS, enough for the Ti 7 to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Top speed is 190 km/h.
A 35.6 kWh Blade Battery provides an electric-only range of up to 119 km. The petrol engine produces 150 PS and is used mainly to generate electricity, although it can also support the drive system when required.
Only one equipment grade will be available. Standard items include 20-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, privacy glass, acoustic glass for the windscreen and front windows, and a panoramic glass roof.
Buyers can choose Starlight Silver at no extra cost. Mountain Green, Obsidian Black, Jade Green and Titanium Grey add £1,100 (about RM6,000), while Matte Titanium Grey costs another £2,000 (about RM11,000).
Inside, leather upholstery is standard in black, light grey or brown. The front seats and outer second-row seats have heating and ventilation. Three-zone climate control lets each seating row set a separate temperature.
A refrigerator and drinks warmer sits between the front occupants. The dashboard carries a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, while an 18-speaker audio system is also fitted.
Second-row seats adjust in four directions. With all seven seats in use, the boot holds 126 litres. Folding the third row raises capacity to 970 litres, while dropping both rear rows creates 1,830 litres.
With seven seats, quick acceleration and 119 km of electric driving, the Ti 7 is aimed at families wanting more pace than a typical plug-in SUV. UK buyers get one heavily equipped version at launch rather than a choice of trims.
