BYD Sime Motors has collected more than 1,000 bookings for the 2026 BYD Atto 3 within 10 days of the updated electric SUV’s local launch.
The facelifted Atto 3 was introduced on June 5 at Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026.
According to BYD Sime Motors, the booking tally repeated what had happened when the Atto 3 first arrived here in 2022, when the model also reached 1,000 bookings in the same 10-day window.
The 1,000th booking was marked on June 14 at BYD Bandar Utama, one of the brand’s Klang Valley outlets.
BYD Sime Motors said the response built on the Atto 3’s existing run in the market.
More than 12,000 units have been delivered to date, and the company describes it as the country’s all-time best-selling electric vehicle.
It’s a reminder of how much early ground BYD gained with the first Atto 3, before the current rush of new EV nameplates arrived.
The 2026 model brings a more performance-led pitch than before.
The Premium variant now uses rear-wheel drive and is claimed to do 0-100kph in 5.5 seconds. BYD Sime Motors also quoted DC charging capability of up to 220kW and a driving range of up to 600km.
BYD Malaysia managing director Jacob Ma said the strong early response showed that buyers are looking for an EV that combined technology, convenience and day-to-day usability.
The distributor is also leaning on its service network to support the growing fleet.
BYD Sime Motors said it now has 44 sales and marketing outlets, 25 aftersales facilities and 12 body and paint centres. It also quoted a 95% parts fill rate.
While the Atto 3 is no longer the only obvious EV choice in its price band, the latest booking figure shows the badge still has massive pull.
