It is a useful local first for BYD, especially as the Atto 3 remains its most important model in Malaysia, with 12,000 units sold nationwide. BYD Sime Motors also said BYD has passed 32,000 cumulative vehicle sales here, making it Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle brand by total volume.
The Ultra opens the range at RM125,800, while the new rear-wheel-drive Premium is priced at RM138,800. Both are nett prices. The Ultra is RM2,000 higher than before, an increase tied less to added hardware than to the return of import and excise duties for fully imported electric vehicles.
On-the-road prices without insurance for the Ultra and Premium are RM126,660 and RM139,835 respectively.
Colour choices are Ski White, Atlantis Grey, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black.
The Premium is the one that changes the Atto 3’s character. It borrows heavily from the Euro-spec Atto 3 Evo formula, switching to rear-wheel drive and a 230 kW (313 PS) motor with 380 Nm of torque. The result is a 0-100 kph time of 5.5 seconds.
The Ultra keeps the familiar front-wheel-drive layout, using a 150 kW (204 PS) motor with 310 Nm of torque. It does 0-100 kph in 7.3 seconds.
Battery capacity also separates the two. The Premium gets a 74.88 kWh Blade battery, good for 600 km NEDC (510 km, WLTP), while the Ultra uses a 60.48 kWh Blade battery with 480 km NEDC (420 km, WLTP).
Charging is where the Premium makes its strongest case. Its 800V electrical architecture allows DC fast charging at up to 220 kW, with AC charging rated at 11 kW. The Ultra supports DC charging at up to 110 kW.
The Premium is also easier to spot, with its own 18-inch alloy wheel design, a charging port on the right rear quarter panel and a 101-litre front boot. The Ultra does without the frunk.
Both variants get revised front and rear bumpers, new rear light graphics, a reshaped spoiler with split brake lights, and cleaner rear quarter trim without the old scale-pattern detail.
Inside, the Atto 3 finally loses the old centre-console gear lever. The drive selector moves to a column stalk, freeing up space around the centre console. The cabin also gets a redesigned dashboard, a new steering wheel, 50W wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats and the familiar panoramic glass roof.
The centre screen stays at 15.6 inches, but it is now fixed rather than rotatable. The old swivel trick was fun, though probably not a daily habit for most owners. The digital instrument display grows from 5.0 inches to 8.8 inches.
The Premium adds automatic dual-zone climate control, a six-way powered front passenger seat, four-way lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat, enhanced advanced driver assistance systems, and seven airbags including a front far-side centre airbag.
BYD Sime Motors is offering a launch package worth up to RM14,000. The first 500 customers get a RM10,000 early-bird overtrade, plus a choice between a wallbox with standard installation or a six-year standard service package.
Warranty coverage stands at six years or 150,000 km for the vehicle, and eight years or 160,000 km for both the high-voltage Blade battery and drive unit. Customers also get a Vehicle-to-Load adapter and a Type 2 charging cable with three-pin plug.
The 2026 Atto 3 is available for viewing and booking at the MotorExpo at XOX Arena, The Arch Galeries Kuala Lumpur from June 5 to 7, as well as at authorised BYD showrooms nationwide.
