VinFast has begun rolling out the VF MPV 7 from its Subang plant in West Java, giving Indonesia a locally assembled seven-seat electric MPV with a lower entry price for buyers who choose the battery-subscription plan.
The Vietnamese EV maker announced the rollout on May 21 during a four-day customer experience programme at Laguna, Central Park Mall in Jakarta.
Reservations had already opened earlier at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2026.
The VF MPV 7 is priced from 420 million rupiah (RM94,000) in Jakarta with the battery included. With battery subscription, the price falls to 345 million rupiah (RM77,000). The subscription starts from 880,000 rupiah (RM196) a month for up to 2,000km of use, while the higher-use plan costs 1.35 million rupiah (RM301) a month.
Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 150 kW (204 PS) and 280 Nm. The MPV uses a 60.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and has a claimed range of 450km NEDC (about 360km WLTP). VinFast quotes a 10% to 70% DC fast-charge time of about 30 minutes.
The VF MPV 7 measures 4,740 mm long, 1,872 mm wide and 1,734 mm tall, with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. It has front-wheel drive, 19-inch wheels and up to 1,240 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
VinFast is also offering free charging at V-Green stations in Indonesia until March 31, 2029. The first 2,000 customers get 16 million rupiah (RM3,600) cashback, while the official product page lists a seven-year/160,000km vehicle warranty and a 10-year/200,000km battery warranty.
The Subang plant covers 171 hectares and is planned for more than US$1 billion (RM4 billion) in investment. VinFast said the site had begun producing the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, VF 7 and VF MPV 7, with future capacity planned at up to 350,000 vehicles a year.
