Transport Minister Anthony Loke has told the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to restore online vehicle ownership transfers immediately, following concern that the service suspension would inconvenience motorists and create queues at JPJ offices.
In a Facebook post today, Loke said he had spoken to JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli over the temporary suspension of the online transfer service.
According to Loke, JPJ told the ministry that fraud and misuse of the ownership transfer system had created legal exposure for the department. The system therefore needed urgent fixes.
Even so, Loke said JPJ had been advised to make sure any upgrade work would not disrupt routine transactions or push more people to JPJ counters.

“JPJ has agreed to restore the online services for the matter immediately and any system delays for improvement works will only be implemented during the long break this weekend,” he said.
Earlier reports said the suspension had affected JPJ’s public portal, kiosks and service provider channels, including MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
