XPeng has launched the GX in China, giving the brand a full-size flagship SUV with both battery-electric and extended-range powertrain options.

The GX was unveiled in Beijing on May 20, with limited-time launch prices starting from 269,800 yuan (RM158,000) and rising to 349,800 yuan (RM204,000).

XPeng said buyers who place orders by June 30 would receive equipment and ownership benefits worth up to 36,000 yuan (RM21,000), with extra repurchase incentives for existing owners.

The SUV measures 5,265 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,800 mm tall, with a 3,115 mm wheelbase, putting it firmly in large luxury SUV territory. XPeng positions the GX as its first full-size “new technology” flagship SUV, aimed at family buyers who want more than just a big cabin.

For the pure EV version, XPeng quotes up to 750km CLTC range, or about 600km WLTP. The model also supports 5C charging, with XPeng claiming up to 525km of range can be added in 12 minutes under suitable conditions.

The extended-range version uses XPeng’s Kunpeng Super Electric System. It offers up to 430km CLTC electric range, or roughly 344km WLTP, and a combined range of 1,585km CLTC. Output is rated at 370 kW (503 PS), with all-wheel drive and a claimed 0-100kph time of 4.98 seconds.

Chassis hardware includes rear-wheel steering, a claimed 5.4-metre turning radius, dual-chamber air suspension and variable dampers. Higher versions also get XPeng’s latest AI driving hardware, including Turing AI chips.

The GX also forms the base for XPeng’s robotaxi push and would be sold in the Middle East, as the company tries to move further upmarket.
