Porsche is set to launch the fourth generation of its Cayenne SUV as an all-electric model by 2025.

This new version will run on the evolved Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, designed to enhance performance, charging capabilities, efficiency, and comfort.

Porsche aims for this model to set new standards in the SUV segment, leveraging the potential of electrification to improve driving performance and overall vehicle experience.

The electric Cayenne is undergoing a rigorous testing program, including millions of kilometres under extreme conditions, to ensure reliability and quality.

This extensive testing follows an initial phase of digital development and trials at Porsche’s Weissach Development Centre.

The real-world tests are crucial for validating the durability and functionality of the vehicle’s hardware, software, and integrated systems.

Porsche’s commitment to electromobility is evident, with the company projecting that over 80% of its new cars could be fully electrified by 2030, contingent on customer demand and regional infrastructure developments. The fourth-generation Cayenne is a key part of this strategy, aiming to accelerate Porsche’s transition to electric vehicles.

Simultaneously, Porsche will continue to develop and offer third-generation Cayenne models, including hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants.

The current third-generation Cayenne, notably the Turbo E-Hybrid, received significant upgrades last year and will undergo further enhancements, especially in powertrains. These improvements focus on making the V8 engine more efficient and compliant with future regulations.

The Cayenne has been a staple in Porsche’s lineup for over two decades, known for its blend of sports car performance, everyday comfort, and off-road capability.

The upcoming models aim to continue this legacy while introducing advanced electric and hybrid technologies.

The fourth-generation electric Cayenne and the continued development of hybrid and ICE versions reflect Porsche’s strategic push towards a more electrified and versatile product lineup.

Porsche currently offers two electric models: the Taycan and the latest Macan.
