Zeekr says its new 8X high performance hybrid SUV will go on sale in China on April 17, with the launch event set for 7pm in Ningbo.
Final pricing will be announced that night, and the brand has also said pre-sale benefits will end before the official price reveal.
The 8X opened pre-sales in mid-March and starts from 376,800 yuan (RM220,000), rising to 516,800 yuan (RM302,000) for the top Yaoying version.
The powertrain is the big deal here. Zeekr describes it as the hybrid segment’s first tri-motor megawatt electric drive, with peak output of 1,030kW/1,381hp.
It can do 0-100kph in 2.96 seconds, while a dual-motor variant is quoted at 3.7 seconds, which is still an impressive claim.
The 8X sits on the Haohan-S super hybrid architecture and uses a 900V electrical system, together with a 2.0-litre hybrid-specific engine rated at 205kW and a 145kW range-extender generator. The platform is known outside China as Geely’s SEA-S (Sustainable Experience Architecture-S).
The battery and charging numbers are worth noting as well. Zeekr quotes a 70kWh 6C hybrid battery, up to 410km of CLTC pure-electric range, 1,416km of combined range, and a 20-80% charge time of nine minutes in normal temperatures.
The 8X, which began pre-sales on March 16, drew more than 30,000 orders in under 48 hours.
