Caterham is set to unveil the first working prototype of its Project V electric sports coupé at the Tokyo Auto Salon on Jan 9, 2026.
The development car would be shown alongside exhibits from technical partners Yamaha Motor and XING Mobility, as Caterham steps up testing ahead of its push toward full-scale production.
Built at the Tokyo R&D facility in Japan, the prototype is now used for initial powertrain evaluation of Yamaha Motor’s e-axle, while also undergoing chassis durability work.
Caterham said it would also allow further assessment of the CTP battery system, which uses cells immersed in a dielectric liquid to improve cooling through rapid, uniform heat dissipation.
The company claims the approach delivers strong thermal stability, supporting energy density, safety and performance.
Separately, the original Project V concept show car is due to make its US debut at CES 2026 in Las Vegas on Jan 6, in partnership with XING Mobility.
“This is a significant milestone in the development of Project V, with our prototype making its public debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon,” said Caterham Cars CEO Kazuho Takahashi.
